in Marumbi park, Brazil
One day trip to Marumbi park :
from Curitiba to Marumbi by train
from Marumbi to Curitiba via Morretes by car
Serra do Mar is a mountain range on the southwest coast of Brazil, covered by Atlantic rain forest.
The single-track line through the Serra do Mar is one of the highlights in Paraná. Opened in 1880, it was one of the big challenges of that time for engineers. The track starts in Curitiba at 934 m above sea level and ends in Morretes, just a few metres above the sea level. The distance to Morretes is approximately 70 km.
It is considered one of the most impressive train rides of the world, which runs through the luscious tropical vegetation of the Atlantic Rain Forest and through numerous breathtaking bridges and turns.
I took a ‘slow romantic’ train to Morretes.
This train runs just beside the atlantic forest, very slowly (40km/h).
Then, we had a pleasant small walk in Marumbi Park.
The road between Marumbi Park and Morretes isn’t paved with lots of rocks on the ground. It goes perfectly with a Brazilian tough rap music.
