냄새를 기억하는 카메라가 있었으면…

이끼낀 강물내음에 약간의 곰팡이, 그리고 향신료가 듬뿍 들어간 물고기,뭍고기 요리 내음에, 가스불, 기름내, 음식물 쓰레기가 부패하는 냄새를 합치면 펑후앙의 거리 냄새가 될테다.

터번을 뒤집어 쓴 조그만 묘족 할머니나, 쥐포처럼 납잡해진 돼지머리 고기를 파는 한눈이 먼 봉황 사내나, 무료하게 않아 기념품을 파는 젊은 여자나, 탈탈탈 트랙터를 끄는 청소년의 마음 속에는 무엇이 들어있을까. 그들의 아픔은 무엇이고 기쁨은 무엇일까. 내가 생애에서 다시 오지 않을 것 같은 이 곳에서, 내가 다시 마주칠 일이 없을 것 같은 사람들, 나와 너무 다른 그들을 보며 끄적 거린 생각들.
