Isla del Sol, island of the sun, wind and silence

Isla del sol (Sun island) is known as the place where the sun is born according to the Inca legend. In this beautiful island with a beautiful myth, I cleansed my soul even if I couldn’t take a shower (yes no hot water overthere, my friend)…

We live in a world where there are too many things : We easily get nervous not to be able to do all. But In Isla del Sol, you don’t have to worry about it. Life is simple. No car, no internet, no tap water.. One thing you can do is walking or rather climbing. (You’re over 3800m high. Your heart won’t find it easy to walk around here.)

Just enjoy walking. There is nothing else to do.

And you will appreciate it.

The world’s most dangerous road La Paz – Coroico, Bolivia

From the mountain(4600 m alt.) near La Paz to Coroico(1500m alt.), 3 hours mountain bike ride

For 3 hours, you go down 3000m of the altitude in the narrow road along the cliff from the mountain near La Paz (4600m) to Coroico (1500m). They call this the world’s most dagerous road or death road, since there were heavy casualities in this road by the car accident. Nowadays, cars run on the new road which is wider and safer. This old notorious road is popular for the mountain biking.

Mountain biking : 1st part

It was 10°C when we start. Cold and windy. No plantation.
When we arrived in Coroico (1500m alt.), it rose to 25°C.
We could swim outside. There were a jungle.
In Bolivia, you need to be sensitive at the altitude.

Amazing to see how changed the landscape and the climate according to the altitude

Chaotic La Paz

La Paz in the evening

La Paz isn’t an attractive nor beautiful city by itself.
It’s quite chaotic, the air is polluted.
But it was cool to see (or even visit for those who are adventurous) the surrounded mountains such as the mountain Huayna Potosí (6 088 m) or Nevado Illimani (6 460 m).

At night, this ugly city glitters like the galaxy.
